Bourdage Consulting ("we," "us," or "Dr. Bob") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. A scientist documents everything — and that includes being clear about your data.
1. Who we are
Bourdage Consulting is a computer-consulting and web-solutions business based in Fort Worth, Texas, serving Fort Worth and North Central Texas. You can reach us about this policy at robert@bourdage.net or 817-994-7111.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details you submit through our contact form or by email or phone — such as your name, email address, phone number, and the message you send.
- Account information if you use the client portal — your login credentials and the contact details associated with your account.
- Information related to the services we provide you, including notes and records about your computers, networks, and projects that you ask us to maintain.
- Billing information, which is handled through our accounting provider (see "How we share information"). We do not store your full payment-card numbers on this website.
Information collected automatically
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit — used for security and to keep the site running well.
- Cookies and similar technologies, described in the next section.
3. Cookies & tracking
We use a small number of cookies, kept to what's needed to make the site work:
- Essential cookies — required for core functions such as keeping you signed in to the client portal and protecting forms against abuse. The site can't work properly without these.
- Preference cookies — remember choices you make, such as the platform filter on the help guides, so the site behaves the way you expect.
- Analytics — if and when we use a privacy-respecting analytics tool, it helps us understand which pages are useful. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site, such as the client portal, from working.
4. How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiries and provide the services you request.
- To create and manage your client-portal account, and to give you access to your own records.
- To send you email newsletters or service updates only if you've asked to receive them — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To prepare and manage billing for work performed.
- To keep the website secure, maintain it, and improve how it works.
- To meet legal or regulatory obligations.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us operate, and only as needed:
- Our web-hosting provider (servers located in Dallas, Texas) and our content-delivery/security provider.
- Our email provider (Fastmail) for correspondence and hosted email.
- Our email-newsletter platform, used only for messages you've opted in to receive.
- Our accounting/invoicing provider, used to bill for services.
- Authorities or others when required by law, or to protect our rights, our clients, or the public.
6. Email & newsletters
We only add you to a newsletter list if you opt in. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time — it takes effect promptly. You'll still receive necessary messages about services you've engaged us for.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide our services and maintain the records you've asked us to keep, and as required for legal, accounting, or security reasons. When it's no longer needed, we dispose of it securely.
8. How we protect information
We take reasonable, documented measures to protect your information, including access controls and secure backups. Sensitive items stored for clients (such as passwords or recovery keys) are handled with particular care and restricted access. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices & rights
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you marketing email. To make a request, contact us at robert@bourdage.net. We'll respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law.
10. Other websites
Our site may link to other websites (for example, software makers or resources we recommend). We're not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites — please review their policies.
11. Children's privacy
Our services and website are intended for adults and are not directed to children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be noted on this page.
