Fastmail has a built-in place for everyday notes — shopping lists, project ideas, call logs, checklists. Best of all, your notes ride along with your mail, so they’re on every device and backed up with your account.
Make a note
Open Notes
Click the notes icon in the left sidebar, or pick Notes from the app menu at the top-left.
New note
Click New note.
Type it
Use the toolbar to format (lists, bold, color), or click Make plain text for a simple note.
Save
Click Save — notes are not saved automatically.
Find and pin
Later, find a note with Search, and pin important ones so they stay at the top.
Remember to click Save. Unlike some apps, Notes does not save as you type — your changes are only kept once you click Save. Make it a habit before you switch away.
Getting notes on your phone. On iPhone/iPad, your Fastmail notes can appear in Apple’s built-in Notes app once set up. On Android, use the Fastmail website or a third-party sync app (Fastmail suggests DAVx⁵).
One caution on Apple devices. If your iPhone/iPad is also set to sync Notes to iCloud, it can stop Fastmail syncing and, in some cases, lose notes. Let your Apple device sync notes through your Fastmail account, not iCloud.
